The Guardians of Grub
There is an ever-growing threat that is wreaking havoc on our world. It’s devastating the climate and putting our planet in peril. One million tonnes of food prepared in the hospitality & food service sector is thrown away; 75% of this could have been eaten.
This costs the industry a staggering £2.9 billion each year. And that's not all. When that food waste ends up in landfill, it emits greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change.

The Guardians of Grub campaign is aimed at empowering professionals from across the hospitality and food service sector to change behaviours and reduce the amount of food thrown away in their establishments. It’s about making simple, low-cost changes to the way food is bought, prepared and served that can help reduce the amount of food needlessly thrown away.
We provided assets and resources that can be used within the industry to provide ongoing support and advice, as well as galvanising a movement of partners who are leading the charge and encouraging others to be part of the campaign.

The portraits were shot by renowned photographer Alex Telfer.
