We all feel lonely sometimes, but many young people feel uncomfortable acknowledging it. This reluctance to talk openly has led to misconceptions about the causes of loneliness and, ultimately, to stigma around it.
Loneliness is everywhere, but we rarely hear it honestly discussed. It needed a voice.
The new campaign ‘Loneliness. It’s a part of life. Let’s talk about it’ from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport gives loneliness a voice, to help our audience understand loneliness and help reduce the stigma around it.
Three campaign films reveal the real, diverse causes of loneliness by giving loneliness a voice. The films draw on the lived experiences of 16-24 year olds, focusing on three key life moments where loneliness is most prevalent: leaving home, starting a new job, and scrolling on social media.
The integrated campaign will target young people across Paid Social, YouTube, Influencer and Partnership activity, and signposts to the Better Health: Every Mind Matters loneliness page.
